Comparison of Rate of Force Development between Explosive Sustained Contractions and Ballistic Pulse-like Contractions during Isometric Ankle and Knee Extension Tasks

چکیده
Background: The rate of force development (RFD) is a measure explosive strength, commonly evaluated within the same repetition as peak force/torque, by instructing participants to produce “fast” and “hard” contraction. Previous studies have indicated that attempting achieve maximal RFD force/torque contraction may not be optimal. Methods: This study assessed differences between sustained (“fast-and-hard”) ballistic (pulse-like) contractions on during isometric ankle knee extensions in young, recreationally active (n = 33; age: 23.4 ± 5.6 years). performed both types for extension tasks. was calculated time intervals 50, 100, 150 200 ms from onset also these points (50–100, 100–150 150–200 ms). Findings: results this showed higher later (100–150 ms) compared (effect size (Hedge’s g) 0.51–0.73). ballistics were larger occurred more outcome variables females than males. Peak contractions, (p 0.010; Hedge’s g 0.54) males 0.003; 0.78). intra-session reliability similar types, increasing moderate excellent with longer intervals. Conclusion: Our suggest should used when assessment primary goal. When aim assess force, it suggested use combination separate protocol.

The Influence of Vibration on Muscle Activation and Rate of Force Development during Maximal Isometric Contractions.
At present there appears to be a need for research conducted on the effects of vibration on the contractile ability of skeletal muscle tissue. The aim of this study was to address this issue by examining the effects of a superimposed muscle/tendon vibration at 50.42±1.16 Hz (acceleration 13.24 ± 0.18ms(-2): displacement ≈5mm) on muscular activation and maximal isometric contraction. Sixteen par...

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...
Pulse control during rapid isometric contractions of the elbow joint.
Normal subjects exerted isometric torque at a rapid rate of contraction with different amplitude targets, and at different rates with a constant target. In the fastest contractions, the agonist triceps and antagonist biceps muscles showed an electromyographic volley characterized by a slow wave with an initial negative and subsequent positive phases. The duration of each phase was relatively co...
متن کاملMaximal discharge rate of motor units determines the maximal rate of force development during ballistic contractions in human
INTRODUCTION The magnitude of the neural activation, and hence the force produced by a muscle, depend on the number of motor units activated (recruitment) and the rates at which motor neurons discharge action potentials (rate coding). Although the recruitment order of motor units (size principle) is similar for contractions during which the force is gradually increased (ramp contraction) and th...
متن کاملThe interaction between peripheral and central fatigue at different muscle temperatures during sustained isometric contractions.
Changes in central fatigue have been linked to active and passive changes in core temperature, as well as integration of sensory feedback from thermoreceptors in the skin. However, the effects of muscle temperature (Tm), and thereby metaboreceptor and local afferent nerve temperature, on central fatigue (measured using voluntary activation percentage) during sustained, high muscle fatigue exerc...
